Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. We hope you grab some coffee (or a diet coke, in my case) and enjoy viewing our latest work, browsing resources for photographers, and getting a little peek into our life!  Read more...

Evy’s Nursery

  • A Baby Pink Polka Dot Nursery

Well, I never thought that I would be the girl who blogged her child’s nursery AFTER her daughter’s 2nd birthday… but that is totally who I have become… and it’s ok. I think I’m lucky to have just FINISHED her nursery after what the last two years have brought us. When Evy was just 4 months old, we started our Hip Dysplasia journey with her left hip, and we entered our first round of being in “survival mode”. Our 8 hour sleeper turned into a little girl who didn’t know how to sleep in a hip brace and cried every hour.

The Workshop Experience

  • October 2018

Well you may wonder why I’m sharing about these two workshops from the fall in March…. that’s what happens when you are pregnant and then right after the workshops, you travel to speak at two conferences while simultaneously prepping to launch a massive Business Course for photographers. Oh, and help start a new service at your church and perform at a big Jazz Production that has five shows and then a couple of weeks later, it’s Christmas! Oh my gosh! What a whirlwind!

Our Maternity Portraits

  • For Baby Alsop #3

It’s hard for me to believe that I’m blogging maternity photos again. I must sound like a broken record when I say that the last two years have been insane. I don’t remember what it feels like to get to wear normal clothes for more than a couple months at a time. I REALLY don’t remember laying on my stomach!! And I’m in awe of what God has allowed my body to do. In April I will be giving birth for the 3rd time in 26th months and that’s amazing.
