Hi there! i’m katelyn.

Hello, and welcome to the KJ Blog! I'm Katelyn James, and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team based in Richmond, Virginia. We hope you grab some coffee (or a diet coke, in my case) and enjoy viewing our latest work, browsing resources for photographers, and getting a little peek into our life!  Read more...

My OCD Tendencies

  • Being Picky

considered myself to be OCD about anything. Sure, I’m picky about decorating and a few other things but for the most part, I’m not really all that intrigued by the small details of things. For instance, if I cleaned the bathroom and there was a spot left on the mirror, it wouldn’t phase me. However, a few days ago, as I was updating Facebook albums on the business page, I caught myself doing something VERY strange…. and VERY OCD. I found myself ARRANGING the images in the albums so that they “flowed” perfectly together.

Washington DC Cherry Blossom Engagement

  • Jeff + Rosie | Engaged

are some things that you just can’t plan. They are out of your control completely. Cherry Blossoms and traffic are two of those things. You never know when they will be in full bloom and you can NEVER estimate DC traffic! I met Jeff and Rosie at Jeff’s home in Vienna before their shoot and planned to ride into the city together since parking was going to be nearly impossible for two cars. We shot a few images around Jeff’s amazing home and then we hopped in the car! Rosie’s mom and Jeff’s mom were so kind to drive us into DC! We thought we left with plenty of time but if you’re familiar

Here She Is!!!

  • The New House

probably thinking…. “Um Katelyn… are there going to be anymore house pics?! You kinda left us hanging!”. Well, there is definitely an explanation for that. The reason I haven’t been posting new house images is because well….. it’s pretty much DONE!!! Yea. Done. As in, we have running water, electricity, heat/air, flooring… all that is missing are a few pieces of trim. It’s CRAZYYYY!! It went from dirt to our dream home in a matter of three months! It’s just insane. Of course there have been some bumps along the road…. and before we close I’m SURE there will be several more but I’ve been told that is normal.
