  • The Goals
and I have been DREADING this post for sometime now. It’s really not something I have been looking forward to. I knew April would be a little crazy but I thought I would at LEAST have gotten some more Thank you notes done! Ugh. Why is this so HARD?! I have them sitting by the couch so whenever we’re watching TV, I can work on them! Well, whenever I stop working and Michael comes home and we’re watching TV, I really don’t feel like writing Thank You notes… I just want to relax! Michael and I are SO incredibly thankful for everyone that participated in our wedding and supported us…. I’m just

really behind on my Thank You notes and because this is such a HUGE task…. I keep putting it off. I know it needs to be DONE and my mother is constantly reminding me of that…..so once again, it’s on this month’s GOALS list! Pleasssssse wish me luck with that one!!!!!

Ok Seriously? How can one person be SO unproductive?!! Was it because of the beginning of wedding season? Lack of self discipline? What was my deal?! I feel like I accomplished a lot this month but somehow, only a few of my accomplishments were on my GOALS list! I’m so tempted to add in a few little “to-dos” that I didn’t originally post, JUST so I can cross them off!!  If anyone has tips for getting Thank You Cards done AND making yourself go to the gym multiple times a week…. PLEASE SHARE!!!!!! As you can see, I need some help making these things happen!! So here are the goals for this month and I WILL accomplish more in May….hopefully.

Ok, so I have a couple of tips for working out!
    1) Join a class that’s fun and that you can look forward to. Make a friend in the class. Group exercising is fun and having someone say, “where were you last class?” will motivate you to have a really good reason for skipping (if you skip at all)! I have ballet twice a week.
    2) If you’re going to workout on your own, do so first thing in the morning! Research says that you’ll burn more calories if you don’t eat breakfast first (bonus), but working out in the morning is also great because it will energize you for the rest of the day and at the end of the day there’s so many last-minute things that crop up and for me at least, I feel sluggish and not-in-the mood to workout. This has been great in getting me to the pool to swim laps.

Good luck! And I think you’re pretty good at getting your goals done!

Writing wedding thank-yous is a HUGE task! I decided to just block out a period of time each day and just get some done. Start small, like 20-25 minutes. If you do this a couple of times a week, you’ll get your 50 done for the month! And certainly you have 20 minutes somewhere!! Hope you can make it happen :)

don’t be so hard on yourself – you are getting a lot done!! i just finished our thank-you notes (my goal was to do them in 6 months and i finished on the day haha). i also said i’d do them when i was watching TV but NEVER felt like it! sometimes I would decide to write thank-yous and rent a movie. even if I only did 5 or 10, at least I got some done and then eventually there was only 5 left! so set a small goal, like do 5 two or three times a week. maybe once you start writing them you’ll end up doing more! good luck :)

Working out tip…get a Cellerciser. You’re probably like “what in the world is that?” It’s similar to a mini-trampoline but it’s so different, too! :) We’ve had one for about 8 months and I’ve lost like 5-6 pounds. The Cellerciser is convenient, SO easy to use and fun! :) Plus, you lose weight, gain muscle and exercise your entire body (not just areas of your body like lifting weights). I love it! If you want to know more about, feel free to email me! I’d love to share!!!

Oh- another exercise idea (going off of Kristina N.’s comment) is to join a Zumba class (www.zumba.com). I’ve gone once with my aunt and the classes are so much fun!

    Hope this helps!!

I agree with Sydni! Don’t be too hard on yourself–goals are awesome, but it’s important to also look at all the things you did accomplish this month that maybe weren’t even on your list.
In regards to exercise–I want to start this by saying I absolutely despise working out–that being said, I still jog two mornings a week and go to the gym at least one additional day with an occasional zumba class added in when I can fit it. My tip is to find a workout buddy. I would have never stuck to my schedule without having someone pushing me–and knowing that a friend is also waking up at 7am and getting dressed is enough to drag me out of bed as well because I don’t want to be “THAT GIRL”…you know…the one who makes plans and then bails on a friend after she’s already up and dressed.

I go to a cycling class at Am Fam short pump every Tuesday morning at 815. The instructor is AWESOME and it energizes me for the day!

Katelyn, I’ve been following your blog for months, and this is my first time ever leaving a comment! (Although I do sometimes comment on your FB fan page). First, let me thank you for your humility in sharing a window into some stuff you struggle to get done. Second, let me say, fend off the guilt. Relaxing with your husband is an important goal too. And once you have kids someday (God willing), you will discover even more the importance of viewing “relaxing with loved ones” as a very important goal and not necessarily as a “temptation” to feel guilty about. Shrink down the goal list if you have to, so that if you end up getting “only” 25 thank-you notes done this month, you can feel satisfied with your progress instead of feeling guilty for not doing more. I realize there are people out there who need the opposite advice– they need to be prompted to action. But you are already a woman of action who is getting a LOT accomplished… so don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I’m preaching at myself here, too–I work too hard sometimes. Lately I’ve been trying to take a lesson from the story of Mary and Martha. :)

It’s so awesome that you have goals and actually write them down (and then blog them so everyone can keep you accountable! lol). You might want to wait on the backup 5D Mark II because I keep hearing that a Mark III is coming soon! Who knows though!
