Instagram used to be the simplified version of Facebook. Instead of seeing everyone’s EVERYTHING in a Facebook feed (FarmVille, rants, a million shared articles) people started to love the simplicity of Instagram. I used it for years as a place to randomly post personal photos and some portfolio work…. and then everything slowly started to change. There was a shift that happened in the creative world a few years ago and it dramatically changed how creatives used Instagram!

Happy Monday friends! I’ll be honest, I had originally planned on sharing our Europe trip on the blog this morning but guess what, after two weddings and an anniversary session today, I’m not prepared for that! Those images will be shared shortly but today, I wanted to do an Ask Anything post to answer a question that we receive quite often. If you’ve never heard of us or our business, there are a few things you should know before reading this. 1. I started this business when I was 20 years old and a junior in college. 2. I never had money to invest in advertising and 3. We have run a 6-figure photography business for the last 5 years.

If you’re a wedding photographer, there is one un-avoidable stressor that you simply cannot avoid. You can educate your couples on so many different levels and help them avoid stressful situations the day-of but there will ALWAYS be one stressful aspect of the day that wedding photographers cannot avoid. I’m talking about making the call about “PORTRAIT TIME”. There are so many variables that affect portrait time with the bride and groom. The hard decisions come in when the weather isn’t cooperating with your timeline!
