  • Spring 2013 Workshop

was a time when I saw other photographer’s hosting gorgeous workshops with really awesome shoots and yet they would never blog the images!! I used to think “Gosh?! Those sneak peeks are awesome! Why aren’t you sharing those images?!”. Well, one reason could be that those workshop images were going to be featured somewhere big and they weren’t allowed to share! I totally get this now. However, I ALSO understand how, even after a feature, one could forget to blog a workshop. Why do I understand this? BECAUSE I DID IT!

I realized at the beginning of this month that I have TWO workshops that I haven’t blogged!!! What?! I hosted a workshop in Richmond back in February and then one mini-posing workshop in Vegas during WPPI and I have YET to share those!! Crazy right?! How did I let that happen?! Well, we have been a little bit busy this spring. As soon as we got back from our trip out west, the house building process got really intense and demanded a lot of our time! After that, the Connect Retreat happened, wedding season began and then we moved into a new house and setup our lives in a new place! Crazy right? So in the midst of all of that, I forgot to blog a few major things! But no worries, it’s here today! Today I’m sharing the super sweet Valentines Shoot that was styled by the amazing Dana Fitzgerald and Janie Medley! It was hosted at the beautiful Manakin Mansion here in Richmond VA! Emily Hudspeth did a fabulous job with hair and makeup! And of course I can’t forget to thank Tori and her sweet husband Aaron for taking the day off and modeling for us!  And a HUGE thank you to the amazing sponsors that were awesome enough to offer the attendees some sweet giveaways! : Organic BloomLeather CraftsmenAdoramaKelly Moore BagsPASSH-B Photo and Album Exposure.

I also have to thank RUFFLED for featuring this shoot! So exciting! You can view their feature here:  http://ruffledblog.com/fuchsia-yellow-valentines-day/

And now here are some of my favorites from the shoot!! It was a dreary day but these bright colors made the images POP!! Oh but before I launch into the images, here is the list of vendors that helped with the stylized shoot! : Photographer: Katelyn James Photography / Floral design and Fashion Styling: Janie Medley Flora Design fromThe Bride’s Cafe / Creative Direction and Styling: Dana FitzGerald / Dress: Ivy and Aster from Bella Bridesmaid in Richmond, VA / Cake: Candy Valley Cake Company / Makeup: Emily Hudspeth / Invitations: Page Stationery / Venue: Historic Mankin Mansion / Models: Tori + Aaron of Marvelous Things Photography / Flowers: Fifty Flowers
