Emy's First Bridal Shower

  • Let the Showering Begin!

my first bridal shower. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I remember thinking “So people are getting together to give me gifts and then watch me open them?! …. And that’s it?!”. I didn’t really grasp the concept of a shower until AFTER I was a bride! I was one of the first of my friends to get married and so all of this was so new to me! Did you know that there are shower GAMES and TRADITIONS and even SUPERSTITIONS?! These were some of the things that I learned as a bride! It’s fun to watch my sister learn all of these things now that she is a bride!

It’s also fun for me to be on the planning side without all of the attention! My mother in law, Bobbi, wanted to host a shower for Emy and so we started planning several weeks ago. We decided to host it at our home in Richmond and I have been looking forward it for some time now! Bobbi planned everything and did all of the hard work! I just made the table and kitchen look pretty! Perfect! Decorating and table designing are my strengths! Making chicken salad, cheese balls and crab dip isn’t really up my alley. :) I loved opening up our home to so many family and friends for Emy’s shower! She was surrounded by so many amazing women who adore her and have been a part of her life since she was a baby!! I’m so thankful for everyone who came out in the flurries! So here’s a little post that recaps the shower AND shows a little bridal shower decor inspiration! A HUGE thanks to Michael for cleaning the house and Bobbi for all of her hard work. She really made this shower come to life and we are so thankful for all of her hard work the last few weeks!! Enjoy!

Thanks to Jill for helping me make these tassels on Friday!

LOVE these tissue balls! I don’t want to take them down!

Sweet old friends!

More sweet old friends!

Oh my goodness… how sweet is this!?

Emy may or may not be tickling daddy to get his real smile. :) Whatever it takes! I love this!

I had NO idea about bridal showers when I was a bride! Mine may have involved several disasters.. but there were games and scones and sweets and good friends! It looks like you pulled off an amazing party for Emmy!

So lovely! I have to ask, where in Richmond did you find French macaroons? I found them at a bakery last year, but they aren’t in business anymore.
